Group visit Manchester Climbing Centre

3 December 2013

5th Hyde Beavers Cubs and Scouts enjoyed an afternoon of thrills and excitement at the amazing Manchester Climbing Centre.

The Scouts had spent the night at the Group headquarters on Crook Street in Hyde, before being joined by the Beavers and Cubs for Church Parade at Hyde Central Methodist Church before heading for The Manchester Climbing Centre in Ardwick.  The climbing walls are set within St Benedict’s Church, built in  1878, this magnificent grade II listed building is still a magnificent sight on the local skyline. The interior of the roof, crafted from amber pine, and great west window provides an impressive backdrop to the climbing, bouldering and training walls.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all got first hand experience of both climbing and belaying their team members, using knots they had learned at Scouts. Most managed to scale the heady hights of the indoor walls. A sight that has to be seen to be believed!
