Chief Scouts Gold Awards at Police reception

Greater Manchester East’s third Chief Scout Gold Award presentation evening of 2012 was held on Wednesday 14th November at the new Greater Manchester Police headquarters. 51 Scouts from across the county were honored including 2 young people from 5th Hyde.

The certificates were presented by Dan Pepper – a Paralympic Swimmer, who as well as being a Scouter, represented team GB in London this Year. Samantha, a 5th Hyde Scout was the youngest recipient at the reception, and would like to become a Street Dancer or a Photographer when she leaves school. Lewis, who is now a Young Leader helping at 5th Hyde. Lewis’ funniest moment in scouting was falling asleep on the assault course at Linnet Clough!

A special award was also presented, A polar bear award to Sir Peter Fahy the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, and Vice President of the county – after spending the night with explorers sleeping in cardboard boxes and makeshift shelters raising money for the Retrack charity.
